"This is not a Drum" tells the stories Rafael experienced during his journey of 8 years around the World, Stories about the desire of exploring, about losing the path and finding a place call home - inside himself.

Rafael Sotomayor was born in Santiago de Chile. Carried by his thirst for knowledge, he traveled 8 years around the world. In 2006 Rafael, painter and self-taught musician founded the project "TheArtOfFusion" with the aim to unite different cultures and art forms. Also as a composer, Rafael collaborates with his own creativity in a variety of musical styles, always looking for an unusual expression. In 2003 he encountered the Hang, an instrument with a new sound - invented in Switzerland in the year 2000 - inspired by the Caribbean Steel Drum and the Gatham, which is a percussion instrument from India. This new sound is the perfect medium for Rafael in order to combine different cultures and music styles in a novel way.
